Coalbed Methane (CBM)

A typical CBM drilling study can be as simple as conducting a pre- and post-study of domestic wells (flow testing and water quality sampling), or may involve detailed groundwater assessment for areas that appear to exhibit higher risk in terms of groundwater impact. The level of study is often dictated by landowner concerns and the controversial nature of the CBM program being proposed. However, if non-saline water is diverted (TDS = <4000 mg/L), a preliminary groundwater assessment study is required to demonstrate that potential impacts to shallow water resources can be avoided or mitigated.

Waterline understands that there may be a need to attend public meetings and open houses in order to present preliminary findings of the baseline assessment to landowners. Waterline has been involved in numerous open houses and public consultation sessions and can attend any such sessions upon request.
