Oil Sands

Waterline approaches our projects from an outside-in manner (i.e., regional-to-local), with effort and focus directed accordingly.  It is this scale-dependent approach that Waterline uses on undertaking Oil Sands Project tasks, such as:

  • Baseline/EIA/Supplemental preparation;
  • Quantifying local/regional groundwater flow systems;
  • Computer modeling for groundwater flow, mass transport, and predictive analysis;
  • Assessing groundwater – surface water interaction;
  • Dewatering of surficial (water table) aquifers, deep confined aquifers (as e.g. McMurray basal water sands), tailings impoundments to increase stability, etc;
  • Water well design, drilling/construction supervision;
  • Aquifer test design, supervision and data analysis;
  • Quaternary and bedrock source water development and permitting;
  • Design and supervision of AEUB Directive 051 injectivity/disposal well tests; and,
  • Regulatory liaison, public consultation and expert witness testimony.
