JOB DESCRIPTION
Waterline is looking for an experienced hydrogeologist to join our mining services team based in British Columbia. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated individual to take their career to the next level with a growing company of geoscientists and engineers specializing in physical hydrogeology and groundwater resources. Waterline’s mining services team supports projects across Western Canada, the United States, Mexico, and South America.
This position can be based out of our Nanaimo office, or from a home office located in or nearby Vancouver.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must have a keen interest in solving complex problems alongside Waterline’s team of skilled senior and principal hydrogeologists. Candidates with the following qualifications should apply:
Graduate or undergraduate degree in hydrogeology, geology, geological engineering or related discipline.
18+ years of relevant consulting and/or industry experience in physical hydrogeology.
Possesses professional designation with EGBC.
An established network within the mining industry.
Excellent communicator, both verbally and written, and experience working in a team environment (fluent Spanish is an asset).
Strong work ethic with well developed organizational and time management skills.
Working knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation related to mining including the Mines Act, Environmental Management Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Water Sustainability Act, and related code and policies.
Experience with geological modelling (e.g., Leapfrog), groundwater flow modeling (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW) and/or water balance/water quality modelling (e.g., GoldSim).
Extensive experience in managing client expectations and project deliverables.
Demonstrated ability to maintain existing clients and develop productive client relationships.
Candidates must be comfortable working and travelling to remote locations. International travel may be required.
Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.
OPPORTUNITY
Provide hydrogeological experience and leadership on local and international mining projects throughout the mining lifecycle including: Design & Feasibility; Operations; Due Diligence & Independent Reviews; Environmental Impacts Assessments; Closure Planning.
Lead the hydrogeology components of large projects with interdisciplinary teams. You will collaborate with other industry leaders in mining, geotechnical, hydrology, and geochemistry to deliver integrated water management solutions for the mining sector.
Provide technical oversight on a broad range of services, including water supply exploration and development, seepage management, dewatering, hydrogeological characterization studies and environmental compliance.
Support strategic planning and business development initiatives to expand Waterline’s mining services business.
